Summary

As Little Cub and Grampa Bear's fishing adventure is interrupted by mischievous otters, the young polar bear begins to question why we must love others。。。 even the seemingly unlovable。

In answering her questions, Grampa Bear gives tender explanations that teach Little Cub about the different kinds of love that is shared between families, friends, and mamas and papas。 Grampa explains that all these kinds of love come from God and that it is important to love others because。。。

"Any time we show love, Little Cub, we're sharing a bit of his love。"

This sweet tale will warm the hearts of young children as they learn about all the different sorts of love, while the gentle explanations of each provide a valuable opportunity to encourage children to share with others a "God-sized love。"

When we are good, God gifts usGod gave us love is a pretty straightforward idea。 The idea is best connected to our relationships we have with others (or otters, like in the book)。 We know we didn't and don't always know how to be king。 But it's a gidt。 When we are good, God gifts usGod gave us love is a pretty straightforward idea。 The idea is best connected to our relationships we have with others (or otters, like in the book)。 We know we didn't and don't always know how to be king。 But it's a gidt。 。。。more

While the illustrations are nice, this book is so incredibly wordy for what it is trying to teach。 There is no way a young child in the age group this book is targeting (ages 0-3 [per the back of the book]) is going to understand anything this is trying to teach。 You could have cut the words in this book in half and ended up with a better story。 Do yourself a favor; read the Bible to your child, then teach them with your own lesson。 This book is awful。 Donating。

An exploration of the various expressions of love, why it is more than a feeling, and what it means for God to love us。A cute introduction to a deep concept。 Bergren does a pretty good job of covering a lot of stuff in ways that little ones can understand。 Would be a great Valentines read。

This is a fabulous board book with a wonderful message about God’s love。 The illustrations are absolutely adorable, and my 4-year-old loved looking at them while I read。 When I finished, she had a big smile on her face and then continued looking at the book on her own。 My older children also really like the book。 God Gave Us Love is the perfect addition to your child’s library!

I have read one other book in the series, God Gave Us You, and absolutely loved it! My daughter enjoyed pointing at them as I named the animals and objects。 I love the fact this is available in a board book so that little toddler hands can enjoy it without it getting torn。 I'm sure that this book will be dearly loved for years to come!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the Blogging for Books book review bloggers program。 I was not required to write a positive review。 The opinions I have expressed are my own 。。。more

This wonderfully illustrated board book is all about love - God's love for us and our love for others。 The most important message of the book is of Salvation, given in a simplified version for younger children。 Adult readers are given a starting point in the book, "But most of all, "Grampa said, "we know God loves us because he sent his Son to save us。。。" It's up to them to discuss this more at the child's level of understanding。The main characters, Grampa and Little Cub, encounter otters while This wonderfully illustrated board book is all about love - God's love for us and our love for others。 The most important message of the book is of Salvation, given in a simplified version for younger children。 Adult readers are given a starting point in the book, "But most of all, "Grampa said, "we know God loves us because he sent his Son to save us。。。" It's up to them to discuss this more at the child's level of understanding。The main characters, Grampa and Little Cub, encounter otters while fishing。 The playful otters annoy Little Cub。 Grampa explains that God wants us to show others love, even when they annoy us。 He also explains the different kinds of love for family and friends。The target audience for God Gave Us Love is 3 years and up。 This book has too much to take in for younger children。 I think the only thing a 3 year old would remember about this book would be polar bears and love。 I found out at the very end that Little Cub was a girl。 This could be confusing for a child, since it appears by her clothes and the lack of wording with "he" or 'she" that Little Cub is a boy。The illustrations in God Gave Us Love are downright cute, 5 star worthy。 The colors are comforting。 Your heart will be warmed by the cozy winter scenes with this caring polar bear family。 The love the characters have for each other is shown through the drawings。 I would recommend this book for it's illustrations and the message of God's love。Lisa Tawn Bergren is a best-selling author of more than thirty books, including The Captain's Bride, The Busy Mom's Devotional, and the God Gave Us children's book series。 She and her husband, Tim, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado with their three children。 Visit her website at lisatawnbergren。comPlease rate my review for Blogging For Books。 When you rate any Blogging for Books review, you will automatically be entered to win a free copy of the book that you reviewed。 Blogging for Books is giving 50-100 free copies of various titles each month。 I have been notified that one person who rated one of my reviews has won a copy of the book。 Be sure to check your email to do a one time verification that you rated a Blogging For Books review or your rating(s) will not show up。I received a free copy of this book from WaterBrook Multnomah for my honest review。 。。。more

When I pick up a kid’s book, I’m looking for a few things。 The first thing is good illustrations。 You can say all you want to, but small children aren’t going to care what it says if the pictures are off。 Second is the content; is it interesting? age appropriate? do I agree with what the author is saying? I think the best part about this book is the illustrations。 They are fun, colorful, detailed, and go along appropriately with the words。 The content。 Well, it meets one out of my three criteria When I pick up a kid’s book, I’m looking for a few things。 The first thing is good illustrations。 You can say all you want to, but small children aren’t going to care what it says if the pictures are off。 Second is the content; is it interesting? age appropriate? do I agree with what the author is saying? Write more books with less words if you’re going for the preschool audience。 I found the story interesting enough, but my kids did not。 You can tell how much my kids like a book based on how many times they request I read it。 I think I’ve read this one to them just two times and we’ve had it for a few months (Yes, I’m behind on book reviews…oops)Not a bad book, just not a great one either。 Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from WaterBrook Multnomah as part of their book review bloggers program。 I was not required to write a positive review。 The opinions I have expressed are my own。 。。。more
